Visting Reseacher Dr Benjmain Fuchs, IETR, France

From 12 to 20 June 2017, Dr Benjamin Fuchs from the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications of Rennes, France, was visiting the Electromagnetic Systems (EMS) group. His research focuses on electromagnetic signal processing for antenna synthesis and microwave inverse problems, including array synthesis, antenna diagnostic and phase retrieval. During a seminar he gave an overview of inverse problems in the framework of microwave measurements with focus on antenna diagnostic, phase retrieval and interpolation of the electromagnetic near field.

Together with Associated Professor Michael Mattes from the EMS group he his working on microwave imaging of the human brain for diagnosis and follow-up of neurological diseases and injuries (e.g., stroke, haematoma). The aim is the adoption of microwave technology as imaging modality in addition to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computer tomography (CT) .
