Special Section on Nanoantennas Guest-Edited by Samel Arslanagić, DTU Elektro, EMS

The December issue (2017) of IEEE Antennas and Propagation Magazine features a Special Section on New Frontiers in Passive and Active Nanoantennas guest-edited by Samel Arslanagić (Electromagnetic Systems) and Prof. Rick Ziolkowski, University of Arizona.

The cluster of three articles (48 pages in total) included in this special section focus on several recent advances in the field of passive and active nanoantennas that employ not only traditional-based realizations but also their new frontiers. Each author team was asked to highlight the similarities and differences between traditional antennas and their nanoantennas counterparts and to provide an extensive list of references to facilitate further self-exploration by interested readers.

One of the papers in this section is prepared by Arslanagić and Ziolkowski. It reviews the fundamental electro-magnetic properties of several spherical and cylindrical, passive and active, coated nanoparticles and discusses their potential use as nanoantennas, nano-amplifiers and nano-sensors.
